Who is Scopt interesting for?
There is a solution for everyone with a digital meter. We understand that not everyone has a home battery and charging station at home.
That’s why we’re starting with our real-time visualization tool Scopt Lite. With this, we help end users save on their energy bill by giving them sufficient insight into their energy consumption. This way, you can already start gaining insight into your costs, get tips to save more, etc.
Once you purchase a charging point later, you can request an upgrade to activate new functionalities from the same app.
You will see the biggest savings with an installation with solar panels and an electric car!
What do you mean by a Scopt Community?
The Scopt platform has one clear goal: “Making the energy transition possible with sufficient users.”
By 2050, we must collectively achieve climate neutrality. This requires massive electrification. We do not believe that the solution lies solely in installing wind turbines, solar panels, charging stations and heat pumps.
The biggest challenge lies in aligning consumption and production with intelligent software.
That is why we are building a large community of end users with Scopt. End users who can manage and optimize their own electricity production and consumption. In this way, we can reduce costs for everyone and we all help to maintain the balance on the electricity grid. In this way, we contribute to a green and affordable future without worries!
Where can I download the scopt app?
The Scopt app is a web application, which means you can use it on both your mobile phone and your computer without any problems.
You can’t download it from the app store or play store. Instead, you just surf in a browser to www.app.scopet.be .
Once you surf to this website, you can download the application or pin it to your home screen. It’s that easy! Now you have the Scopt application on your mobile phone.
How much does that cost?
You need to distinguish between the one-time purchase costs and the monthly license costs.
- One-time purchase costs: You pay a one-time fee for the purchase of the Scopt dongle. This is sent by post and you can install it yourself. Due to optimization via the cloud, the purchase costs are relatively low, up to 10 times cheaper than other energy management systems.
- Monthly subscription costs: Depending on the license you choose, you pay a monthly subscription cost. For example, you can start with the Scopt Lite subscription or choose to control your charging station via Scopt Powerconnect.
For the latest pricing, please visit: https://app.scopetvision.com/pricing/ .
Why a subscription fee?
Our revenue model is based on subscription costs, which is the reason for the low purchase costs of the hardware.
- Our application can be used anytime, anywhere, which means we have ongoing costs for data usage, running our servers and focusing on security.
- We are in a highly innovative market that is constantly changing. Therefore, we are constantly upgrading the application with new functionalities and possibilities to prevent it from becoming obsolete within a few months or years. This includes connecting with different manufacturers, responding to changes in technology and legislation, and more.
- We also continue to invest in our algorithm to completely unburden customers. We strive to ensure that you do not have to make any adjustments or change your behavior. We automatically adjust the behavior of your installation.
The pricing of our subscriptions is a fixed amount per month and is calculated based on the savings we can achieve. We offer different subscriptions, depending on the functionalities. The more expensive the subscription, the more value and savings we can guarantee. Scopt is therefore the only subscription that saves you money. In addition, we show in a transparent way which savings have been achieved, so that you always know the return on your installation.

Installation Dongle
What are the installation conditions?
To install Scopt you need the following:
- A digital meter with an activated P1 port.
- A stable wired network connection close to the digital meter
See also: https://app.scopetvision.com/visualization/installation-conditions/
Why is a dongle needed?
We need a dongle because only then can you get real-time measurements from your digital meter.
This is essential if you really want to get more value from your digital meter. With our Lite subscription, for example, we can give tips on when you consume a lot and a little and you can always see in the app how much you are consuming or see how much surplus energy you are putting on the grid.
In addition, you always need a reliable measurement if you are going to control large consumers, such as a charging station. Only then can you start optimizing for example optimization on the sun or the capacity tariff.
Do I need an installer for the installation?
No, you do not need an installer to install the Scopt dongle.
The dongle is sent by post and you can do the installation and configuration completely yourself.
The dongle comes with a short manual + a link to the instruction page.
You can go to the instruction page via this link .
Is an inspection required after installation?
No, an inspection is not required after installation as no changes are made to your electrical installation.
I cannot activate/configure the Scopt dongle
If Scopt is not found in your network or cannot be activated, the following reasons may apply:
- Network connection of your mobile phone: Make sure that your mobile phone is on exactly the same network as your Scopt dongle.
- Wifi instead of 4G: Check that your mobile phone is not connected via 4G, but to the correct wifi network.
- Network consistency with multiple routers/repeaters: If there are repeaters or multiple routers in your home, check that your mobile phone is on the same network as the router/modem into which you plug your Scopt dongle.
- Status P1 Port Digital Meter: Check that the P1 port of your digital meter is indeed set to ‘open’. At P1 port you should see a green check mark with ‘open’.
- Activation P1 Port: Make sure you have activated the P1 port of your digital meter. Depending on the digital meter, this activation may take some time.
- Using P1 Splitters: Be careful with P1 splitters. There are several splitters on the market, but they don’t always work that well. Try plugging the dongle directly into the P1 port without the splitter. If it works, the splitter might not be working properly. If you use a splitter, try to choose an ‘active splitter’.
TIP : Before you can search for the Scopt dongle again, you should always pull it out and put it back in. The dongle will only send out a signal for the first few minutes for this test.
I don't receive an automatic email upon installation
As you go through the steps, you will have to create an account somewhere and you will receive an email asking you to confirm your account.
- Please check carefully that the email has not ended up in your spam folder.
- Please check the spelling of the email address you entered.
- Make sure you have a good network connection.
If you can’t find an email, please send an email to support@scopetvision.com
Installation Dongle
What are the terms and conditions for Scopt Lite?
You only need a Scopt dongle. The installation requirements can be found under “Questions about the installation of the dongle”.
Or you can take a look here .
Can Scopt Lite also control consumers?
No, the Scopt Lite subscription does not give you the option to automatically manage consumers. It is a visualization tool that gives you insight into your consumption. With the insights and tips that the application gives you, you can get started yourself to reduce your consumption or spread it at the right times.
Does Scopt read the solar panels?
Scopt will not read your solar panels directly, because we only have a connection to your digital meter. In other words, we measure what you buy in electricity and what you inject into the grid. So we can measure the surplus of solar energy, which is the energy from the solar panels minus the consumption.
BUT if you give our algorithm some time, it will show the solar production in your overview. We can calculate this based on:
- Historical data.
- Weather forecasts for your location – so be sure to enter your address correctly in settings!
Can Scopt show my home consumption?
The answer to this question is not so simple. Scopt only has a connection to your digital meter and therefore measures both the consumption (from the grid) and the injection (to the grid) of electricity.
- If you do not have a battery or solar panels, the electricity consumption from the grid will always be equal to your home consumption.
- If you have solar panels, your consumption will only be equal to your home consumption at night.
- The same reasoning applies to a battery system. As long as the battery is charging or discharging, your consumption will not be equal to the home consumption.
BUT that is not a problem, because we focus on the most important parameters, namely consumption and injection. These give an indication of the efficiency of your installation and will ultimately determine what your electricity cost is.
Ultimately, the data provides insight into your total return, which consists of home consumption, solar production and battery behaviour.
Grid consumption not visible
If no data is visible from the electricity grid, the following causes may apply:
- Check if your dongle still has a good internet connection
- Check whether the P1 port of the digital meter is (still) open via https://mijn.fluvius.be
- Did you happen to deactivate the Scopt dongle? You can check this in the settings page.
If you continue to experience problems after checking the above, please contact us .
I don't see any estimated solar production
If you don’t see any solar production in the app, please check the following:
- The app needs to collect data for a few days before it can show predicted solar production.
- Check if you have entered your address (and correctly) in the settings. Only then can we make predictions.
I don't see a predicted decrease/injection
The app needs to collect data for a few days before predictions will be visible in the app.
Scopt Powerconnect
What are the conditions for Scopt Powerconnect?
You need to be in order with 2 things:
- You need a Scopt dongle to read your digital meter.
- We need to support your charging station brand
- In addition, we are also dependent on the charging station operator, if there is one.
Isn't this the same as Loadbalancing?
Load balancing is a very broad concept in EV jargon. For most charging stations it refers to adjusting the charging current in relation to the maximum permissible power. In
other words, it ensures that your fuse is not overloaded.
With Scopt we optimize on many more factors (e.g. solar and capacity tariff) and give you the flexibility to quickly adjust your charging mode in our application.
In addition, with the Scopt app you will also see your total energy costs (home + charging station) and you can later use additional functionalities of an Energy Management System.
Which consumers can Scopt control?
Today, Scopt focuses on the largest consumer: the charging station.
Scopt will take into account your home consumption and optimize the charging station based on this.
To give you an idea:
- The average daily consumption in a home is about 10 kWh, but the battery of your car is now about 80 kWh. So you can save a lot more if you focus on the charging station.
- The average quarter-hour peak (capacity rate) for an average home is around 3.5 kW, while a charging station can often charge up to 11 or sometimes even 22 kW. That is why it is important to focus on the charging station, because you can save a lot here. Did you know that the minimum peak for a home is set at 2.5 kW, and that every 1 kW you exceed this value will result in additional costs on your final bill?
Furthermore, the charging station is very easy to control and we can regulate the power at which it is allowed to charge to within a watt. With many small household appliances, it is often not possible to read them, and if it is possible, the connection is often unstable, so that you can usually only switch them on/off. So you will quickly make a large investment for very small savings.
When people talk about large consumers, they often think of washing machines and dishwashers, but these are not such large consumers in comparison. They require a power peak at the beginning, but then work through their session quite economically. Moreover, a wash cycle is now only 1.5 kWh. That is a big difference with the approximately 80 kWh of your EV!
In short, how to save the most by Scopt:
- It is best to spread your household appliance consumption; our application provides you with insights and tips for this.
- We will optimize the charging station so that you save as much as possible
Does Scopt take my heat pump into account?
We certainly take the consumption of your heat pump into account, but we do not actively control it.
We do this consciously, because a heat pump is not that easy to control or read:
- Many (older) heat pumps cannot yet be controlled.
- The heat pumps that can be controlled can often only be switched on/off.
- The following applies to smart grid-ready heat pumps:
- The heat pumps are almost always connected to underfloor heating, a medium with a limited output temperature. So you can’t just heat the water temperature to 60°C.
- You can heat sanitary hot water to a higher temperature, such as heating the buffer tank from 50° to 65°C, for example.
- Once the heat pump is activated, the boost mode must complete its cycle and cannot simply be switched off.
- Boost mode will only work if the buffer temperature is low enough, which is not always the case.
- A heat pump does not have an energy meter as standard, which means you cannot properly demonstrate what savings the control has actually achieved.
Long story short: We will see the behavior of the heat pump in the measurements of the total consumption and anticipate this by adjusting the capacity of the charging station. For example, if your heat pump starts to produce sanitary hot water (and therefore requires peak consumption), we will temporarily let the charging station charge less power or even switch it off for a while.
Does Scopt take my home battery into account?
Currently we do not read your home battery and we do not (yet) actively control it. This is currently under development.
Can Scopt control every charging station?
Scopt is a brand-independent system, which unfortunately does not necessarily mean that we can read every charging station.
We support the OCPP protocol , a protocol implemented by most charging station manufacturers. By following this standard, we want to support as many charging stations as possible.
In addition, it is important to know that there are two options for connecting to your charging station:
- If it is a charging station that is not public or not connected via an administrator, we can configure the charging station directly with the Scopt Cloud. This is often the case if you have purchased a charging station privately and therefore do not need services such as automatic reimbursement of your charging sessions.
- If the charging station is public or managed by an administrator, we must have a connection with this party. This often occurs with charging stations via the company, where an automatic refund is provided.
Be sure to contact us if you want to know if we support your charging station!
What is being read?
With Powerconnect we have found the perfect combination between a cheap DIY installation and big savings. We read your digital meter via our dongle and read the charging station directly via our cloud. These are the only two parameters we need for our algorithm and the intelligent control of your charging point.
For example, the solar panels are not read directly, as this is not necessary for our optimization and would require an additional implementation cost. We do visualize your solar production in the app by means of our predictions.
For more information about why we do not read household appliances, you can find more information in the Scopt Lite FAQ.
How does the optimization work?
Today, our algorithm focuses strongly on the capacity tariff and optimization of your own solar energy. In the course of 2024, there will be an update with which Scopt will give you the possibility to conclude a dynamic energy contract. You will then receive a new energy price from your energy supplier per hour. In this way, we can charge your car extra when the prices are cheap and, for example, stop charging for a while when the prices are too high.
Today you have three charging modes:
- Standard –> Here you can charge at full power and we will limit the maximum current so that the main fuse is not overloaded.
- Peak –> Here we advise a maximum peak from the electricity grid. If you set this, Scopt will automatically ensure that you do not exceed this peak.
- Solar –> In this mode, energy is only put into the car when there is actually a surplus of energy.
The optimization is constantly evolving and new updates are coming frequently. For example, we are increasingly moving towards an autopilot for your installation, where you as a user no longer have to make any settings and Scopt arranges everything 100% for you.
Will my car be charged in time?
You often hear people say: ‘What if I have to go somewhere in the evening, will my car be charged?’ or ‘I have to drive a lot of miles for my work, so I will always have to drive to a fast charger.’
Innovation and change always require some time in mentality.
First of all, your car is completely stationary 95% of the time, so there is more than enough time to charge your car. In addition, it is important to think differently than with a car with a combustion engine. You do not always have to wait until the car is empty to ‘fill up’ it. Make it a habit to put your car in when you get home. Then the car can charge in an optimized way at the right times.
Remember that you always have the option to charge at full power. You will have a high peak consumption this way, but if you have to be somewhere urgently, you can always choose to charge quickly.
Why the charging station and not via the car's API?
We look at our optimization from a HEMS (Home Energy Management System) perspective. This means that we always try to optimize and control the total home consumption.
If we were to work with the car’s API, we would see the following disadvantages:
- You are dependent on the API of the vehicle manufacturer. If they decide to make the API payable, there will be an additional monthly cost.
- Via the car’s API you can often only start or stop the car, but not modulate it.
- An API is linked to a car. This means that if someone visits your home, there will be no optimization on this charging session. This could still cause you to have a high peak consumption.
- The charging station contains a MID-approved energy meter. The meter readings we read are therefore more accurate than the internal meter data of the car.
Can't I already optimize via my car app?
In many cases you can indeed already make some settings in your car’s app, such as time schedules or maximum power, but be aware that this way you cannot optimize for the sun or peak tariff.
Through our Scopt dongle we have a connection with the home consumption and local energy production. This allows us to apply optimization on a minute basis and feed our algorithm with your historical data.
For example, if you set 4 kW in your car app and you use 5 kW in your home, you will have a peak consumption of 9 kW. With Scopt we will let the car charge a little less when there is a lot of home consumption. Or you can set that you only want to charge when there is a surplus of solar energy.
My charging station does not start charging
This could be for several reasons:
Check carefully which mode the charging station is in. When the charging station is in peak or solar mode, it may not be charging because the optimization decides that this is not favorable. For example, consider:
- Not wanting to exceed the quarter-hour peak.
- No surplus of solar energy.
When your car is fully charged, it will not be able to charge either. So check this first.
Please note that you can also set a maximum State of Charge (SOC) in the car or the car app. This can mean that the car is charged to 80%, for example, because this is set to your car.
The connection to your charging station may be interrupted. Be sure to check whether your consumption from the grid is not suspiciously high (for example >3500W) and that the charging station is set to 0W. This could indicate that we have no connection to the charging station, but that the charging station itself is charging. In that case, be sure to contact us .
Of course it can always happen that your car itself is in some kind of error message. Try to look at the app of your car to see if you can see an error message somewhere.
In any case, you can try restarting your charging session or disconnecting the charging station from the power supply and then switching it back on by switching the fuse off and on again.
I don't see a charging station on the Live page
If you do not see any charging station on the Live page, but only information about the electricity grid, then your Powerconnect license is not activated and you are probably using Scopt Lite.
Please contact us at support@scopetvision.com .
My charging station charges at a limited capacity
- Check if your peak mode or solar mode is not set. It may be normal that the power is limited due to optimization.
- Also make sure you have not limited the charging capacity in the car or in your car’s app. For example, if Scopt wants to send 6 kW of power to the car, but you have set a maximum of 4 kW in the charging station app, the car will only charge with 4 kW.
- Also, when your car is almost fully charged, the charging capacity may decrease. So make sure that the car is not almost fully charged.
I can't see my car's SOC
Currently it is not possible to see the SOC (State of Charge) of your car in the app. This is because we read the charging station and these do not yet support SOC in the current protocol.
We also do not need this SOC for optimization, because we know how many kilometers we have to charge based on the consumption of the car.
The savings are not visible
Please note that the savings are calculated based on measurements and predictions.
- It is therefore very important that you enter your address correctly under settings, so that we can calculate the predictions for your location correctly.
- We need a few days before the predictions are shown, so if you have not installed the app for a long time, it may take a while before the savings are visible.
How does the solar mode work?
The solar mode will ensure that there is optimized charging when there is a surplus of solar energy. Please note that the charging station will only start charging at a minimum available solar production.
- For charging sessions on 1 phase: minimum available injection 500W
- For 3-phase charging sessions: minimum available injection 1500W
If there is insufficient injection, or for example no solar production (such as at night), the car will not charge.
Live view doesn't seem to be right
The live view shows you the measurement of the Scopt dongle (digital meter) and the measurement of the charging station. These are read out independently of each other.
Sometimes there can be a delay in the reading of the charging station or digital meter, which means that the sum of both energy flows is incorrect. For example, if you see 5000W going into the charging station at night and only 300W coming out of the grid, it is possible that the data point of the charging station has not yet been updated. If you then wait a while, it is possible that the charging station indicates 0W and the grid 300W, from which you can deduce that the charging station was actually already switched off.
Do you often encounter this behavior? Then definitely drop it as feedback in the feedback form in the app!
The charging station charges more than the maximum peak mode
It may happen that you see in the live visualization during a charging session that the grid consumption is higher than the maximum set peak.
This does not mean that the optimization does not work. The optimization will take into account for your peak that the quarter peak is not exceeded. So it may be that sometimes a little more or less power is controlled to reach approximately the correct peak per quarter.
Also be sure to look at the charging station graphs under ‘overview’. Here you will be able to see whether the power remains constant, because the data is shown there every 15 minutes.
If you still think that something is not working, please do not hesitate to contact us .
